GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage overall CDO accounting functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, Medicaid billing, and daily departmental operations.
  2. Train, manage and provide leadership to CDO financial staff.
  3. Communicate and provide financial information to CDO program staff and Chief Financial Officer.
  4. Review and approve all accounts payable and payroll transactions for accuracy and compliance.
  5. Maintain, reconcile and audit tax reports, budgets, receivables, etc.
  6. Responsible for reconciling CDO general ledger accounts and preparing journal entries for corrections.
  7. Prepare and reconcile W-2’s at calendar year end.
  8. Communicate with external auditors/monitors and satisfy their requests for information.
  9. Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports as required.
  10. Comply with all tax reporting, employment and wage laws.
  11. Maintaining audit trail of disbursement of funds.
  12. Assist the CFO with the overall accounting and finance functions including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and coding classifications.
  13. Assist with reconciling the annual budget to actual financials.
  14. Communicate and provide financial information to department heads and project managers.
  15. Ensure effective internal controls are in place and practiced.
  16. Ensure compliance with GASB, GAAP as well as rules and regulations regarding federal, state and local grants.
  17. Prepare all monthly, quarterly and annual reports to grantors as requested.
  18. All other financial duties as assigned.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  1. Excellent communication and positive attitude
  2. Knowledge of financial and governmental accounting principles, payroll regulations and Medicaid billing.
  3. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and multiple accounting software programs, preferably CYMA Not-for-Profit/Fiscal Agent Software.
  4. Able to work with little to no supervision and lead/manage staff.
  5. Strong work ethic and emphasis on attention to details.
  6. Analytical problem-solving ability.
  7. Ability to work well under pressure and within short deadlines.
  8. Maintain confidentiality with private information such as payroll, personnel records, etc.

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS NEEDED TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE JOB:

  1. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance with 10 – 15 years of related experience.
  2. Certified Public Accountant or CPA Candidate preferred.
